VOC Torque Volvo 100 Event | RAF Elvington

This could become one of the largest Volvo enthusiast gatherings of the entire centenary year. The Volvo Owners’ Club and Torque Volvo are planning a major two-day celebration at the former RAF Elvington airfield near York, with well over 1,500 Volvos expected to attend.

The scale of the venue makes this event particularly intriguing. Elvington’s enormous former airfield – including its famous two-mile runway – provides plenty of room to bring together Volvos from across generations, clubs and communities. Rather than concentrating on one model or period, the weekend is intended as a broad celebration of 100 years of Volvo. If the anticipated turnout is reached, the sight of more than 1,500 Volvos gathered on a historic airfield could make Elvington one of the defining enthusiast images of Volvo’s centenary year.

The organisers have previously worked on large-scale Volvo gatherings, including the Volvo600 events. With its vast open spaces and long runway, Elvington Airfield provides an ideal setting for what could become one of the highlights of Volvo’s centenary year in the UK.
